Blog are sacrosanct, thou shall not edit or remove--Doesn't work in the real world

Posted Thursday January 18, 2007, 9:42 am, Over one day old
I had to nuke that blog because it had become a magnet for comment spam and had served its purpose.  It wasn't anything personal, I just needed the blog gone.

Dying to try Ubuntu? Now you don't have to partition to try it

Posted Thursday January 18, 2007, 9:42 am, Over one day old
I saw this yesterday on both LifeHacker and DownloadSquad.  The Ubuntu folks have released a prototype installer for Ubuntu that will let you download and install it without repartitioning your drive or messing with Windows (XP).

I got my invite to Joost! Man is it cool.

Posted Thursday January 18, 2007, 9:42 am, Over one day old
I haven't written about Joost or the Venice Project much.  Why?  I hadn't seen it yet.  Now that I have, OMG.  It's cool.  It's slick.  The UI is innovative, interesting, and pretty easy to deal with.  Yeah I've had to click around a bit to figure stuff out, but that's okay.  It is beta after all.

Just where am I located?

Posted Thursday January 18, 2007, 9:42 am, Over one day old
Am I always gung-ho about social media (as in is it for everyone)?  Nope.  I'm gung-ho about the technologies involved, but I know that it isn't for everyone.  That's cool.  Snowboarding isn't for me either, but I still like to watch it sometimes.

Mark Cuban and the P2P dilemma

Posted Tuesday January 16, 2007, 4:31 am, Over one day old
Most of the bit torrent client softwares have a "give to get " algorithm, In other words, it will opportunistically deliver content to you as quickly as the bandwidth you make available to it.

You can lead a worker to a tool, but you can't make them collaborate

Posted Tuesday January 16, 2007, 4:31 am, Over one day old
Man this post on collaboration tools really hit the mark for me.  The gist, it's really, really, really hard to get people to use collaboration technologies.  The post refers to one by Jon Udell on a webcam technology.  The final thought in the post got me to thinking (or remembering)

Have we all stopped linking?

Posted Tuesday January 16, 2007, 4:31 am, Over one day old
We've built this community on linking, commenting, and subscribing to new blogs.  If we want to keep a vibrant community (or return to one), I think we all need to endevour to link more, comment more, and subscribe more.  I'm game, how about you?

Yeah, what happened to MeasureMap?

Posted Tuesday January 16, 2007, 4:31 am, Over one day old
Actually, there hasn?t been any update on the tool nor have they opened up the service to more bloggers. It?s now hosted at a Google Data Center which fortunately made the service more reliable in terms of uptime (before that, users are constantly being greeted with server issue notices).
