Galley Gossip: Airline Bashing, bringing the world together

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 1:55 am, Over one day old
I've now been linked to the worst flight this person has ever had. Perhaps somehow he knew something about the future of aviation we could not imagine back then when things were...well...good, even though back then we still didn't think things were all that great.

TSA roughs up woman, faces $10 million excessive force lawsuit

Posted Friday July 11, 2008, 1:55 am, Over one day old
I don't get mad easily, but last summer, I found myself halfway arguing over a small, still in its package wine kit that I didn't know had been left my husband's carry on. The person in uniform hasn't made the rules, but they have a job that can't be all that much fun.

American Airlines flight cancelled due to booing passengers

Posted Wednesday July 9, 2008, 5:55 am, Over one day old
Whether mechanical or weather related, it always seems like there are a dozen armchair pilots sitting in the crowd saying something like "It's just a landing gear locking pin! The pilots and flight attendants were so miffed that they canceled the flight, stranding passengers in Miami overnight.

"No Reservations" season 4, episode 11: Laos

Posted Tuesday July 8, 2008, 2:34 am, Over one day old
Still scarred by violent memories of the Vietnam War, it is a country largely untouched by the typical tourist trail of Southeast Asia but ripe with beautiful places to visit and delicious new foods to taste. A friendly send-off for a visit to one of the more fascinating places on earth.

Talking travel with frequent mileage expert John Lopinto

I find their fares to be the lowest available and they may show many fare options, not just the lowest. You may also want to use an airline-independent web site that does not sell tickets that just lists all the fares and rules for all flights such as ExpertFlyer.com.

Filed under: Scuba Diving, Photos, Mexico Check out this amazing photo. Two times a year in the late spring and late autumn, up to 10,000 Cownose stingrays make their way between their feeding grounds in western Florida and the Yucatan Peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico.

Heathrow's new terminal losing almost 1,000 bags a day

Posted Friday July 11, 2008, 1:55 am, Over one day old
Filed under: Airports, News Do you remember London Heathrow's new terminal 5 that opened this year? I guess that there is still more work to be done on the new fancy pants luggage handling system. Meantime, this is more reason to pack your luggage into your carry on if you're flying through T5.

Talking travel with a RD editor and former White House correspondent

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 1:55 am, Over one day old
I covered the 60th anniversary of D-Day, attended by President Bush, also going to Rome and Paris on that trip; and toured Asia with Bush 43 as well. What's your favorite hike/trek/walk/climb? What's the best resource for Americans who want to find out some great weekend trip ideas near their home?

US Airways to remove all movies from it's fleet

US Airways: I know that your focus groups and business travelers don't place that high of a priority on In Flight Entertainment because they like to work on their laptops or crackberry around.
