A Good, Free, File Renamer for the Mac

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
Once in a while, you may have a need to rename a few dozen or so files. Either way, if you’re not in need for utility to do this often, paying $20 for A Better Finder Rename (ABFR) is a bit steep, even though it’s probably the best one out there.

PopCopy 2 Clipboard Manager Gives The Hotkey Extreme Power

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
Yes, hot keys are nothing new and yes they’ve been around for some time; however, PopCopy’s unique use of its Hotkey makes it powerful and - gasp! - useful. | | With most hotkey programs, you’re just stuck with what’s in the clipboard and unable to scan its contents.

Apple Disses On Help For New Switcher

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
I mean for all the things Apple does to think different, a reward system would be just one more way to get more to the Mac platform. | | Again, I wasn’t looking for hard cash or expensive hardware. You know, a shirt that peps wear at the store or something.

Email Backup Solution

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
I needed to review my backup schedule. This program is easy to use and gives you the ability to back up only your email folders. It’s fast and gives you exactly what you want from a backup program. | | I still use Silverkeeper for my full backups, which I run once a week.

Why Does One Mac Play While Asleep And Another Won?t Ever Go to Sleep?

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
So here I am, working next to my MacBook Pro, which has its pretty lid closed and a glowing white light coming from the latch release. “Yup, saving power,” I think as I work on other things. The white light’s still glowing, so what’s with the noise from the SuperDrive?

Mail.app Plug-Ins

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
The other plug-in I really love and use intensively is Mail Act-on which gives you the ability to move your messages around with a simple hot-key; you can set colors and activate special rules - it just makes the workflow in Mail much better.

Prevent MBP Leg Burn With smcFanControl

Posted Saturday February 3, 2007, 2:22 pm, Over one day old
Granted, you’ll take a hit on noise and a slight one in battery life, but the pros far outweigh the cons. | | Author Hendrik Holtmann promises to move the program to the menu with the next release, which will keep it out of your Dock when running.

Sure, we’d love to take the time to tell smh not to put your iPod in your back pocket and then expect everything to be fine after sitting down on a park bench.
