Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 5:55 pm, Over one day old

Remember All Those 'Influence' Ad Companies? They May Have A Patent Problem

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 3:41 pm, Over one day old

The Power Of Intermediaries To Silence Speech Online

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 2:34 pm, Over one day old
This means that various hosting companies or other services, such as MySpace and Facebook often have tremendous power to hide content that it dislikes (or that someone else convinces them they should take down). This can be true even if you think you "control" your own domain.

Toyota Adds Solar Power To Hybrid

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 2:34 pm, Over one day old
Toyota, already considered a leader in producing hybrid gas-electric vehicles is apparently preparing to make that hybrid a bit more hybrid: it's going to add solar panels to some models, using the solar energy to power air conditioning. It's not much, but it's a start.

Is The Mobile Ad Market Poised To Break Out... Or To Disappear?

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 2:34 pm, Over one day old
First, it seems incredibly unlikely that mobile ads get anywhere near the clickthrough rate of web-based ads. At that point, specifically mobile ads will make even less sense, and the market will simply return to the existing market for web ads.

However, given how many universities rely on standardized tests for admissions, it's difficult to overstate how important some of these tests can be. And, because of that, there's a huge ecosystem of test preparation built around all of these tests, trying to help applicants prepare for the exams.

Make It Stop: Microsoft Still Maybe Possibly Potentially Maybe Kinda Interested In Yahoo

Posted Monday July 7, 2008, 2:34 pm, Over one day old
It's the merger story that never dies. Again, though, it seems like Icahn's talkative nature actually devalued the deal a bit. In talking about how much he wants to sell Yahoo (if he gains control over it), he's making it that much easier for Microsoft to buy at a lower price than otherwise.
