7 Steps to Cleaning Up IMAP Email Inboxes with PHP

Posted Thursday January 18, 2007, 3:48 am, Over one day old
The POPFile filter moves them into "interesting" and "uninteresting" folders. | | I end up looking at both the INBOX (where unclassified stuff stays) and the "interesting" folder for stuff to read. | | I read the email account in Thunderbird and use the color-coding keywords to classify the items.

Setting Up an OpenID with PHP

Posted Thursday January 18, 2007, 3:48 am, Over one day old
I don't have to have some other company's name as part of my web URL on my resume, and, if you can remember my name, you can find my site and get me email. | | Given the pain that went away with having a permanent "home" online, I've been eyeing the OpenID activities with keen interest.

Making sIFR Fonts without a $600 copy of Flash

Posted Saturday January 13, 2007, 11:29 pm, Over one day old
While it doesn't really work for body text, this would be a way to use something other than the same 4-5 fonts we all end up using for headlines, pullquotes and other accent text. | | I've mentioned sIFR before, but haven't ended up implementing it anywhere in production.

Zoom H4: Replacement Portable Audio Recorder

Posted Saturday January 13, 2007, 11:29 pm, Over one day old
I've been using an iRiver MP3 player and a stereo Giant Squid microphone for recording meetings and some in person discussions destined for some eventual podcast episode. The Minidisc setups bothered me because they record in their own format on discs that only work with that technology.

Photobook Publishing with Blurb and Without iPhoto

Posted Thursday January 11, 2007, 7:25 pm, Over one day old
Fortunately, the people who *did* come up with the printer and the process also sold it to other folks and you can get the exact same books from your Windows PC or your Mac. | | One of those services is Blurb. I really like this book and am excited to get the real one put together.

Cheap Subversion Repository Hosting with Dreamhost

However, you can use the code: GLASSTOOBIG and get the setup fee waived (I get a bit of a commission from their end). | | When I signed up, their Subversion installation was a bit out of date, but it's since been upgraded to a more recent version.

Using Lua to ScITE PDF Export with TextMate Color Change

Posted Thursday January 11, 2007, 7:25 pm, Over one day old
The ".." between are how Lua concatenates strings together (instead of the "+" or "." you may be used to from other languages). | | Since the Textmate-style theme I'm using for ScITE has the main color set to 170 on the 255 scale, it's really light when you remove the dark background.

Reading the Iraqi Constitution

Posted Monday January 8, 2007, 5:08 am, Over one day old
D. Every Iraqi has the right to engage in sports, and the State should encourage its activities and promotion and will provide its necessities| | | | I was right there with them nodding along until letter "D". I actually had to read this section 3 times before I was sure I read it right.
