Barcamp Portugal 2007!

Posted Friday July 20, 2007, 12:48 am, Over one day old
If you remember last year’s announcement, the goal of bringing Barcamp to Portugal is to stir things up a bit and to give back to the place the team here at Webreakstuff calls home. Bringing people together seems to ignite change, so we’re bringing people together again.

A few thoughts on Pownce

Posted Sunday July 8, 2007, 12:48 am, Over one day old
Searching for friends one by one is not going to work if they number in the hundreds, and browsing friends of friends - which is usually the best solution - doesn’t feel right on Pownce either because they show names as “Firstname L.” instead of the full name or the nickname.

Web application design through observation

Posted Thursday June 21, 2007, 12:46 am, Over one day old
Perhaps due to the old days writing about startups for Techcrunch, I love to know how people got to the problems they’re trying to solve with their companies - I love ideas but more importantly I love the process towards refining them.

Top-down web product design

Posted Tuesday June 12, 2007, 12:46 am, Over one day old
One thing that I haven’t stressed enough though, is that proper planning doesn’t always mean spending months on end thinking about every single detail, but actually thinking about things in the right order.

Heading out to Reboot9

Posted Wednesday May 30, 2007, 12:45 am, Over one day old
It will be a blast - there’s actually quite a lot of people I know and admire heading out too, so it will be a good opportunity to catch-up. If you’re flying out to copenhagen too, might as well come by and say hi.

Peter Merholz has a review of the book on his blog too. Chris Pirillo gets down with how to start a business online - and he has some very good advice, too. Finally, MIT’s Technology Review has a very good article by Daniel Turner about “ The Secret of Apple Design “.

An ode to desktop app experiences

Posted Wednesday April 25, 2007, 12:45 am, Over one day old
We spend so much time looking at web-applications these days that we tend to ignore desktop apps. Still, every once in a while there’s room for pleasant surprises, and today was one of those days with the release of CSS Edit 2.5 (by Macrabbit ) and Coda (by the guys at Panic ).
