Innovation and geography - How it affects us

Posted Monday February 12, 2007, 12:41 am, Over one day old
The relationship between innovation and geography seems like an ever returning meme in the New York Times. Less concentration of creative people - Less people to tap into about a new idea or new product. Not having people to tap into around makes you work harder to engage in global conversations.

Steve Jobs on the demise of DRM

Posted Monday February 12, 2007, 12:41 am, Over one day old
You know it’s a good day for science when Steve Jobs writes about his (probably changed) opinion on DRM and asks for it to be put to a stop. In such a world, any player can play music purchased from any store, and any store can sell music which is playable on all players.

Successful brainstorming

Posted Wednesday January 31, 2007, 12:40 am, Over one day old
You have an idea, and while between two people it may be easy to be on the same page, it doesn’t always happen. Any idea is a good starting point, and in a good brainstorming session, you want to get those out (again, into paper) as much as possible.

On our identity - help us define ourselves

Posted Wednesday January 31, 2007, 12:40 am, Over one day old
We usually don’t talk much about the work we do on this blog - as you know if you’re a regular, I usually focus on design, innovation and - sorry, have to use the meme - Web 2.0. How we’re tagged I’ve done some research using del.icio.us on how people actually categorize us.

Fixing web-based products through design

Posted Monday January 29, 2007, 12:40 am, Over one day old
Jeff highlights something I think about frequently and wrote about here - how most companies ignore design until late in the product development process, usually resulting in poorer products. You usually can’t fix how something behaves after it’s been entrenched in the application.

Wikipedia is right about nofollow

Posted Tuesday January 23, 2007, 12:40 am, Over one day old
By adding the nofollow attribute to their links, wikipedia is effectively telling spammers that by adding links to their pages from wikipedia, they get no “juice” (or search engine ranking boost, if you prefer) in return.

Jakob Nielsen on intranets and hype

Posted Wednesday January 17, 2007, 12:40 am, Over one day old
This paragraph pretty much sums the tone: Star ratings and user comments have long been found on public websites — from Amazon.com to weblogs — but they become much more useful on intranets, where they’re not degraded by the Bozo effect.

iPhone, on the thin line between love and hate

Posted Sunday January 14, 2007, 12:40 am, Over one day old
It has what seem to be great applications and services, but Jobs himself said no third party would be allowed to develop for the phone in an interview with the NYT :?We define everything that is on the phone,? he said.?You don?t want your phone to be like a PC.

Thoughts on the iPhone

Posted Wednesday January 10, 2007, 12:39 am, Over one day old
Wishes and concerns As I said in my “ ultimate connected device ” post a while ago - where I hinted on the real need we have for something like this -, a phone like this can become a platform for just about anything if developers are given the right tools.
