Second-Life client now open source

Posted Monday January 8, 2007, 12:39 am, Over one day old
I just got word that Linden Labs decided to open the source code for the Second Life client, and I must say I love their decision. By opening the source code to the community, second life users don’t need to wait for Linden to come up with an improved graphical engine it desperately needs.

O bubble, where art thou?

Posted Monday January 8, 2007, 12:39 am, Over one day old
If you don’t do your blogosphere reading on the weekends you may have missed Mike’s insightful post on whether Web 2.0 is a bubble or not. Sometimes I wonder if I’m naive by believing any company will work at any time if the idea behind it is solving real problems for real people.

I love you Adobe, but those icons suck

Posted Thursday December 21, 2006, 12:38 am, Over one day old
John Nack, Senior Product Manager for Adobe Photoshop, unveiled the new icons for the upcoming series of Adobe Products - and boy, can I be any more disappointed. I’m just wondering about the creative process behind the decision to use these new icons.

Gaming industry 2.0

Posted Thursday December 14, 2006, 12:38 am, Over one day old
Which is a shame because the potential of anyone creating their own games and generating revenue from them is mind boggling. Indie developers can’t afford the development systems, or want to pay for services that don’t allow anyone to experience their creations.

Emotional attachment in web-based applications

Posted Wednesday December 13, 2006, 12:37 am, Over one day old
Are there any applications out there that make you comfortable - not only because they help you, but because you know they won’t fail you? It’s becoming harder and harder to find applications that make you feel emotionally connected.

Last week in the blogosphere

Posted Sunday December 10, 2006, 12:37 am, Over one day old
Since its been a week and a week means 7 posts, I should just point you to the page itself and let you be amazed on your own. Dan Saffer has a really good list of interaction design blogs you should be reading (even though I’d say Valleywag isn’t really ID related, ei Dan?).

Last week in the blogosphere

Posted Sunday December 3, 2006, 12:43 am, Over one day old
Over at the always great Adaptive Path weblog, Chiara Fox has an essay about tagging vs cataloging. Luke has a good series of articles on being a Design Strategist (here’s part 2 ) over at Functioning Form which you should definitely read if you’re in the field.
