On ?Infovores? and ?Infofighters?

Posted Monday March 17, 2008, 2:09 am, Over one day old
We can affect the people we love, but the longevity and social distance of love are both constrained. So much more is possible today and will be possible for my kids, and I want them to feel the love, not just of learning new things, but of doing new things as well.

On 130+ Comments

Tom asked in the thread to see a graph of the comments here over time, and while I’m not savvy enough to do that, there’s no question that more started coming around the same time I started “getting” Twitter.

Students Pay a Price (Literally) for Cell Phone Ban

Not great in terms of audio an video, but some good Alan rants.) In a school where there are about 300 computers for 3,000 students, doesn’t it make more sense to get creative about not only how we might use phones in the classroom but teach phones and phone use in the curriculum?

URGENT: 21st Century Skills for Educators (and Others) First

I’d heard of Gary before he started blogging, but the fact that he’s now willing to put his ideas out here and invest in the network, whether I agree with him or not, garners my respect and makes me more open to his ideas.

Yet Another Reason We Should Be Teaching, Not Blocking, Wikipedia

Posted Thursday March 6, 2008, 1:09 am, Over one day old
In three weeks of February, the Barack Obama entry in Wikipedia had almost 2 million views and was the seventh most visited (and, really, second most visited in terms of content) article on the site. In those same three weeks, the Wikipedia home page got over 140 million views.

Many Voices for Darfur Project

Be sure that your voice is among them. Write an open letter to Omar al-Bashir pleading your case for the Darfur region of Sudan. Write an open letter to leaders in your country to make a case for government support of international efforts in Darfur.

A ?Publish Then Filter World?

Posted Monday March 3, 2008, 1:08 am, Over one day old
While Shirky noted that Obama excels at fund-raising online, no one yet has “proposed a policy wiki” or “lateral conversation among supporters.” There may be an opportunity in the first 100 days to do social production of shared ideas, which the campaign has not done so far.

So I’m wondering if there’s anyone out there who actually has a digital copy of the book and would be willing to fill me in on what that might be like since, as usual, I’m looking like the last to know… Technorati Tags: amazon, books, digital
