iPhone UK

I doubt I'll be using my laptop again, EVER, not now I've got miniature perfection. And it'll be dead easy using wi-fi when I'm out too, just so long as I'm at the British Library or staying at a Holiday Inn or in a Little Chef or some other really conveniently located hotspot.

Four of the train companies serving London and the Midlands cease to exist tonight, and are replaced tomorrow by four new companies owned by different conglomerates run by different boardrooms of grey-suited financiers.

Riding the Goblin

Posted Sunday November 11, 2007, 1:57 am, Over one day old
Say what you like about this new-fangled London Overground, it's still going to be a long time before you can get to nowhere fast. • The Barking - Gospel Oak Line User Group (including line history ) • Five disused Goblin stations • Nico's Silverlink photos (suitably bleak)

Curse of the Traybake

Posted Saturday December 15, 2007, 8:03 am, Over one day old
Curse of the Traybake When I was little, baking was a national obsession. But have you seen the prices they're charging? £1.15 for a small square of pecan & maple syrup flapjack. £1.95 for an individually wrapped organic walnut brownie. £2.20 for a three-bite chunk of chocolate caramel shortbread.

Kings Cross Thameslink

Posted Saturday December 15, 2007, 8:03 am, Over one day old
It's a long hike from the main King's Cross station, either across several sets of traffic lights or along a very long pedestrian tunnel (the one where they painted "Smile" on the walls to try to cheer up commuters).

OCM 10

Make sure you sit at a completely different table and surround yourself with your interesting workmates, the life and soul of the party. 9) Swap seats during the dessert course: Quick, after you've finally managed to sneak out to the toilet, return and sit down at a completely different table.

The Golden Compass

Posted Saturday December 15, 2007, 8:03 am, Over one day old
People who've read the book will watch the film and say "but that's not what happens, and you've missed loads of bits out". And people who haven't read the book will say "hang on, I don't quite understand what's going on". It was always going to be a fine balancing act.
