responsibility

Posted Sunday October 28, 2007, 2:30 pm, Over one day old
Turns out for me, the behavior which I thought was obsessive, is actually responsible. Today I did several responsible things. I thought of it like a transitional space for guests, where maybe they don't want to be in the center of all the action area in the kitchen, but maybe they do want a cup.

all that is evil and dark in the world

Posted Sunday October 28, 2007, 2:30 pm, Over one day old
Today I attacked the taxes, also the immediate family finances, and it is my second day of counting calories. I also know I have a set of things I can reach for instead, and even have a track record of reaching for them on occasion.

the house that eats you up

Posted Sunday October 28, 2007, 2:30 pm, Over one day old
At one point in my childhood, I think it was when they tore down all those nice old houses on 15th Ave E across from volunteer park to make "condos" (first time I had heard the word), I decided that anyone who gives up on a house is lazy.

jokes

Posted Sunday October 28, 2007, 2:30 pm, Over one day old
Realizing today that our old friend Jack Bauer might be great material for some jokes. Beyond making fun of the actor's name, that is. When your mom names you after a slavic yogurt drink you have to wonder what nicknames she had in mind. The big yogurt.

209

I don't own a scale. One even said something along the lines of "the people who work here are great - and not one of them knows how to upload a file to an FTP server!" Not sure how many layers to unpeel on that one. Technology is there for the thing you are doing, not for its own sake.

by way of explanation

Posted Friday May 12, 2006, 12:16 am, Over one day old
The no blogging thing! Yet here I am, my home computer has been broken for 3 months or so, and the blogging is broken apace. Right now in order to blog, I can duck out early on Sunday morning and pair it with a nice session on the piano in the lobby here at work.

Gregory has the added advantage that we all know this realm already (Oz) and as long as he remains internally consistent to that image, he can observe that rough edge of humanity and deliver it to us with clarity. My favorite quote (from memory) "She can't cook, dearie, she has no imagination."

a dear woman

Posted Friday May 12, 2006, 12:16 am, Over one day old
People may have been wondering whose funeral I went to earlier this month. That ambition can be realized in enjoying your own kids... taking care of yourself... and these things will "work" as ambitious goals more reliably and admirably than the classic goals of fame, fortune, and power.
