This can cause a problem in criteria expressions. * If you still can't find the problem, open the data source (usually one or more tables or other queries), and check all of the field names, and then recheck your query.

Get "Immediate" results when creating or debugging code

Posted Friday April 21, 2006, 6:55 am, Over one day old
For example, again looking at the subroutine in the last example: If you place a break statement on the Debug statement and run the code, the code pauses and you can look in the Locals window and see the value of the variables strTest, strChar, and int1.

VBA Beginner's Corner - Someone to Watch over you.

What?s most powerful about adding watches is that in addition to variables, you can also add expressions, and options to break when the value changes. Set a breakpoint in your code by highlighting the second Next statement in your code and then clicking Toggle Breakpoint on the Debug menu.

It's also a good idea to have more than two or three reviewers in case a reviewer is unable to complete the review for whatever reason. And if the rewites and additions are extensive, it's also a good idea to let the copy editor take one final editing pass through the article.

It is also helpful to include pictures that show the reader what they should see as they work through the steps; for example, pictures of any dialog boxes that the reader will use to set options, block diagrams of the process, before and after screen shots, and so forth.

Writing Technical Articles Part 1 - Step up to the plate and share the wealth

Posted Friday April 21, 2006, 6:55 am, Over one day old
Often, but not always, something that gives you a problem has most likely been a problem for other developers as well. The best way to start your plan is to write down as much information about what you hope to achieve as you can and then reverse engineer the design into a series of logical steps.
