Good news, bad news

Posted Wednesday September 6, 2006, 9:09 am, Over one day old
Good news, bad news: The NYTimes reports that Google will announce a new "News Archive Search" today at the URL news.google.com/archivesearch. Good news: Google will start indexing "behind pay walls." Bad news: Google will start indexing "behind pay walls."

Apple iSue

While I've blogged (starting in 2004) about the company threatening those who want to use iPod in the context of a publication name, this is the first time I can recall them going after "pod" (but I'm sure there are blawgers out there who follow this more closely).

Update on Lemur vs. Bransford

Posted Saturday September 2, 2006, 9:09 am, Over one day old
Update on Lemur vs. The Head Lemur says he's even going to give John Bransford a "second chance." He will not use my content, I will not dismantle his network. The Idea of a network of City Specific Websites who primary news sources are bloggers who live there is really a quite good idea.

Where are the lawyers 2.0? Or, "the parody defense"

Posted Saturday September 2, 2006, 9:09 am, Over one day old
It will only seek to protect the Web 2.0 trademark if another other Web 2.0-related event has a name that is confusingly similar to the names of the actual events co-produced by CMP and O'Reilly, such as our events "The Web 2.0 Conference" and "The Web 2.0 Expo."

From Sunday's NY Times

Posted Sunday September 3, 2006, 9:10 am, Over one day old
I say "interesting" because the phrase "bluegrass and country" is an insightful way to describe two of the three popular forms of music (bluegrass and the style of music one hears on the radio that is called "country) that were created in Nashville.

m.rexblog.com: Staci Kramer says it's not that big a deal when mobile versions of websites are announced unless it's, say, the NY Times (mobile.nytimes.com). However, she points out they could have made it easier on thumb typists if they'd used the nyt.com domain they own. Okay, Staci.

Watching a wiki-article written is like watching sausage being made

Posted Thursday September 7, 2006, 9:10 am, Over one day old
Watching an article being written wiki-style is like watching sausage being made: I was going to post a long, rambing observation written over the course of several days about this story on Wired.com that was written by volunteers using a wiki.

Why Nashville bloggers don't live-blog meetups

Posted Saturday September 9, 2006, 9:09 am, Over one day old
Why Nashville bloggers don't live-blog meetups: I feel compelled to respond to visiting lostremote.com blogger Steve Safran, who smacked down the local folks attending this a.m.'s meetup with the complaint that "nobody (was) liveblogging...Come on, gang. A local station is reaching out.
