Why is anyone still naming startups with "the silent e"?

Posted Tuesday August 29, 2006, 10:02 am, Over one day old
Hasn’t this officially been done by now? When Bubble 2.0 pops, the “silent ‘e’” will be the Pets.com sock puppet iconic symbol that everyone mocks. The difference is that Lingr is a lot more open, all of the chat rooms are public and open to everyone.

SoaP Marketing Lessons

Posted Monday August 21, 2006, 10:01 am, Over one day old
Don’t try to own your brand or marketing campaign - you don’t, your fans and customers do, and the harder you try the more it will backfire. People want to be part of a story, not just observers. Without a compelling experience, you don’t have a meme that can spread.

So much for the Long Tail

Posted Monday August 21, 2006, 10:01 am, Over one day old
You wouldn?t THINK of using such a wishywashy quote to convince Bill Gates of something (and you would have kicked me out of your office if I said?this anonymous guy over there said you?re wrong?). Why do you allow such on your blog but not in your office?

Another week, another link bait flamewar: Scoble vs. Windows Live Spaces

Posted Monday August 21, 2006, 10:01 am, Over one day old
And making inflammatory arguments like “Windows Live doesn’t care about influentials” based on one conversation strikes me as a) willfully ignorant and lazy (did you bother asking anyone else on the team?) and b) linkbait (which obviously worked).

New blog to read: Escape from Cubicle Nation

Posted Friday August 18, 2006, 10:15 am, Over one day old
A blog about taking the plunge from comfy corporate life to become an entrepreneur. I spent a few minutes reading it this morning and enjoyed it enough to add it to my aggregator for a while. Found via a link on Gapingvoid.
