History of Maraschino Cherries

Maraschino cherries are not a variety of cherries, but rather a cherry that has to be made. Traditionally, they were Marasca cherries preserved in Maraschino liqueur. Maraschino liqueur is made from the juice and crushed pits of the aforementioned Marasca cherry.

From there, it didn't take much longer before someone sampled the root and said something along the lines of "Hey! Within these time periods, there has been evidence found that aspects of the carrot were used in medicine, as an aphrodisiac, and even the start of using the root as food.

Peas, in the form of field peas, were very likely one of the first crops developed by man. Roman Apicius, one of the first cookbook author in history, published no less than nine recipes for dried peas, indicating that the food was known, and used most often when fresh foods were unavailable.
