The first P2P PVR from NDS plus innovative "Distributed DVR"

While these PVRs have not had the best of times, NDS has today announced some very innovative IPTV products. The first is what NDS call the "Distributed DVR" which allows users to use hard drives from anywhere on a home network instead of being restricted to a hard drive on a single PVR.

The Venice Project Becomes Joost

The folks behind Skype have unveiled their venture into the IP-based TV world. What was called The Venice Project in the planning stages is now officially Joost. The goal is to make the site?as TV-like as we can, with programmes, channels and adverts.

Vongo, Microsoft Team Up Announced

According to a media release,?the new Windows Vista-enabled Vongo service will also take advantage of the Windows Media Center platform to allow users to stream movies and other content via Media Center extenders, such as Xbox 360 consoles, that are connected to the home network.

Xbox 360 The Next IPTV Player?

Now, it appears as if Microsoft is more than just toying with the idea of making the Xbox 360 a full IPTV receiver. If this is the case, the new Internet Protocol Television set up could dovetail nicely with the download service now available on Xbox Live.
