Spirit Airlines to start charging for MIDDLE seats!

Carriers have done this before -- many current legacy carriers charge extra for sitting in an aisle or window near the front of the plane or in preferred seats. But what Spirit is proposing is to charge for ANY seat selected online before departure -- even the seats that most people don't want.

See some of these Hack a Day veterans after the break. One of the ones that caught our eye is the Shadow Robot Company's The Shadow Hand we first posted in 2005. Despite its name, this robot was not designed for evil, but to be the best available robot modeled on the human hand.

SSD hard drives tank laptop battery life

Their results were quite definitive: not only are they not as energy efficient, SSDs actually use more power than conventional hard drives. Most SSDs on the other hand, only have two states: on and off.
