Bloggers aren't journalists

Robert Scoble posted late yesterday that "Great journalists call" in reference to the fact that some reporters actually called to confirm the rumour that he was leaving Microsoft while other bloggers simply went with the story as it unfurled its way through the blogosphere, without calling.

Everyone is Expendable

Yes, it's not a cheery thought, but think about it. At the end of the day, If I want my pretty vloggers, I have Rachel at 88Slide and AmberMac - and I think they both are much more talented than Rocketboom (I was alive in the 80's, so I already saw those skits, thank you).

Sir Martin, Tear Down That Wall

The media should allow consumers to take content and repurpose it...don't get caught in the new orthodoxy which is top down messaging blown out at the grass roots...there are now a million separate power curves, with real specialization by product and interest."

Bits and bobs

Of course there's the BIG BLOGOSPHERE NEWS: Robert Scoble is leaving Microsoft to join start-up Podtech. Not at all surprising that he'd want to try his hand at a start-up venture -- take the risk, build something new. Crappy content in a new form does NOT equal a good press release.

Why Bother?

I got a question from an attendee that went something like this. Steve Harris, Wagoner's PR advisor (and a great guy), is quoted as saying, "Listen Rick, perception is reality...you have become the story of the company...you need positive confrontation, challenging negative news reports."

Kawasaki loops the loop

I got insanely - and quite unreasonably - excited seeing a loop of moving images in Guy Kawasaki’s blog post in my feed reader yesterday. Sadly, though, it looks as if it depends on your choice of feed reader and preferences whether you get these images or not.

Although Technorati is best known as the most comprehensive service for searching blogs -- they currently index over 40 million of them -- the company also provides the best analytic tools for tracking over time and in depth what the blogosphere is talking about.

You may recall my post on Germany after my recent trip to the country. I just received a package from Invest in Germany, an investment arm of the Government.
