For instance: at 0 GMT, you have about 4 billion people awake at the same time (and a lot of Chinese people and other Asians), and at 15:30 GMT you have 6 billion people awake, in fact almost everybody, less the relatively scarcely populated Pacific Zone.

As many of you have pointed out, it's been nearly six months since the last report. As I indicated a moment ago, the majority of our page views now are no longer just in real-time keyword or blog search, as would have been the case just six months ago, but also in our tagged media pages.

I would have liked to have seen Linden Lab's "Online Now" stat reflected in Louis' numbers, indicating the number of peak concurrent users (PCU) over time.

Back in September, 2006, the total number of Second Life registrants reached the 600k mark, with the number of users online concurrently hovering around 10k. Since September, registrations have roughly tripled to 1.87M, with concurrency almost doubling, peaking at around 18k users.

Fees for owning a virtual island in the online world of Second Life will soon be raised, Linden Lab announced yesterday. Linden Lab made the pricing change due to what it described as "ongoing investments in developing and maintaining the underlying technology" of Second Life.
